Cool Sites to Pretend You Know What's Going On - MingleNow Was Almost There

In all fairness, MingleNow's concept is a pretty cool one. Essentially, you can go to the website, find a club or event and see pictures from specific dates or events that took place there. It really comes in handy, say for instance, if you'd like to see what girls were at a club the night you decided WarCraft was more important (or if you're me, and chose to spend a Saturday night ballroom dancing with my mom and her friends, but that's another story).

Anyway, I met a couple of the founders of MingleNow awhile back and it sounded like the same concept my friend had for a site called ChicksOnAMap, so I decided to check it out. I logged on and browsed - cool, but it was still early, not a ton of pictures. My voyeurism would have to wait.

A few months later, my friend started to tell me about this site called MingleNow. Let it be known that this friend, when it comes to Web 2.0, only knows Myspace. I was surprised that he knew about this site. He's been a student for like 25 years, and a partyer and socializer for the same amount of time. He knows his stuff, probably better than he knows his schoolwork.

So I decided to check it out again - only it was slow... dial-up slow. Actually, that's incorrect, dial-up eventually gets you somewhere. I tried again a few hours later to click on a picture of a girl with a plunging neckline(because those are the only ones I click on) and it froze for seven minutes before I gave up. I came back a week later. Same thing. And then I tried again today. Nothing.

I give up - MingleNow is dead to me.

Check out Vintage 415's events - they normally have pretty good looking folks at their events.

P.S. One funny note, my 'in-the-know' friend is 'talking' with a girl named Tuba. Not sure if it's spelled that way, but it is pronounced like the musical instrument. I get a nice little chuckle everytime I think about it.... Tuba , hehehe.

  2. Yes, I was but a young buck, still trying to find my way. For some, it's like comparing old Coke with new Coke - it's a lifestyle choice.
